Before dinner, we decided to go to the Hideaway Bar, which is the bar located in the lobby, and grabbed beers using our drink token. I opted for the High Water Campfire Stout. So good! I’ve been on a stout kick lately. Apparently, High Water Brewing brews this beer with graham crackers and molasses to give you a campfire feel/taste. SO GOOD!
Our first Communal Dinner was in the “mess hall,” which was Outpost Brewing Co. Outpost is the on-site brewing company at Basecamp Hotel Tahoe South. Dinner consisted of BBQ Pulled Pork sandwich, coleslaw, goat cheese mac & cheese, and an oatmeal cookie. My sandwich was sooooo good! The pork was full of flavor and tender. I loved the fact that the pork itself wasn’t drenched in sauce. Instead, it was cooked with perfect seasoning that it really didn’t need a sauce! Also, the coleslaw accompanied the sandwich perfectly! I was bummed half-way through eating my sandwich when the idea hit me to put the slaw INSIDE my sandwich. DUH!
Also during dinner, we had live music provided by a local musician. Her voice was amazing and matched well with her guitar. It was a lovely dinner! After dinner, we were supposed to participate in Camp Bingo, but the beer and pulled pork hit me like a ton of bricks and I was out after dinner.
