After we ate breakfast at the hotel, we made our way to Disney’s California Adventure to start our 2nd day at Disneyland. Our first ride of the day was Incredicoaster since the wait time was 25 minutes. I love the refurbishments to the coaster. Even though its essentially the same exact ride, the sounds and visuals make it so much more fun!
Let me tell you, that day was HOT. Ok, maybe not like 100 degrees hot, but when it is 80 degrees with no breeze, being in the sun can be very draining. We decided to make our way to the line to the outside seating Lamplight Lounge. It was about 11:00am and they opened at 11:30am. OMG, standing in that sun was KILLER. Anyways, we finally got in and ordered a few drinks. OK. I know that I am not supposed to be drinking, but I decided that since I’m at Disneyland, why not? Live a little.
Open Ocean with a Splash: My first drink was a frozen drink made with Bacardi Raspberry Rum, Bols Blue Curacao, Liquid Alchemist Orgeat (Almond), Agave Nectar, and fresh lime juice. This drink was BOMB. Like, tasted like an Icee and I swear these will creep up on you. Maybe because I haven’t drank in soooo long and because I am on medication where I shouldn’t drink, but I was feeling this drink haha
Nectar in the Rye: T got this as his first drink. It was a whiskey-based drink made with Redemption Rye Whiskey, Combier Creme de Peche de Vigne, Hartley and Gibson’s Amontillado Sherry, Lemon Juice, and Agave Nectar.The bitters were pretty prominent in the drink, which he liked but then again wasn’t the hugest fan of. He thought the drink was sweet (but not overly sweet), but strong.
Scream Canister: I stuck with the girly tropical drinks because man-oh-man was I a cheap date! The drink was made with Bacardi 8 Anos Rum, Cream of Coconut, Pineapple and Orange Juice with a mist of Angostura Bitters. This drink was a bit strong (compared to my first drink), but it was tasty! I loved the Cream of Coconut.
Celtic Cure: T’s second drink was made with Jameson Irish Whiskey, Green Tea, Liquid Alchemist Ginger, Lemon Juice, topped with Club Soda, and a dash of Angostura Bitters. He liked this drink more than his first drink. The Jameson was more smooth to drink and overall was more refreshing.
We had Fast Passes for Soarin’ Over California so we took my drink to go. T prefers Soarin’ Over California because he likes the scents more. Plus, I feel like since we are in California and it is Disney’s California Adventure, it makes sense that our ride would be Soarin’ Over California. I personally think that since Soarin’ is at Epcot, and Epcot showcases the world, their ride should be Soarin’ Over the World.
Since it was hot AF, we decided to ride Splash Mountain. Of course, we know better and asked to sit in the back. The kids in the first three seats got soaked haha T and I tried to keep a serious face on the ride. I think it’s the first time I actually kept my eyes open during that ride.
After Splash, we road Pirates of the Carribean, because it was getting too warm and we wanted to cool down and sit. Is it just me or do you feel tired after riding Pirates? Anyways here are random pictures of my only two churros of the trip. So sad.
After, we ate at Bengal BBQ. I’ve had it in the past, but I don’t remember how they tasted. Sad I didn’t take pictures of our food, but whatevs. We ordered 4 different skewers:
Banyan Beef Skewer ($5.49): OUR FAVE SKEWER! The hot and spicy sauce that was on this was soooo yummy! Awesome flavor. We literally dipped all the other skewers in the sauce. Also, the beef was nice and tender.
Chieftain Chicken Skewer ($4.99): The chicken was coated in a Polynesian sauce. We didn’t really care for the chicken. The sauce was meh and the chicken was a bit dry.
Safari Skewer ($4.99): This was a bacon-wrapped asparagus skewer and I am a sucker for asparagus so I enjoyed this! Squirt some lemon on there… so good! Oh, and dipped in that Banyan spicy sauce ?! YAAASS !!
Pork Belly Skewer ($5.99): The pork belly was super tender and I love the fatty bits! The pork was covered with hoisin sauce and pickled carrots and daikon. The hoisin sauce was a bit too sweet for our liking, but if this was covered in the Banyan sauce, then count me in !!
After our snack, we rode Indiana Jones. This ride is always fun. If you don’t like Indiana Jones, we can’t be friends haha T’s buddies were also at Disneyland, so we decided to meet up with them at Trader Sam’s. I just drank a ton of water and snacked on French fries. T on the other hand got trashed. Well he got drunk, and when we got back to the hotel it hit him hazard. He had like 3 bartender shots and 2 mixed drinks. Good thing we didn’t have any plans for the rest of the night except to eat dinner.
