T’s birthday shenanigans continued into the weekend (since his birthday was on a Thursday). I am horrible with surprises ONLY when I am planning them. I just can’t keep in my excitement. So as soon as I got a base okay down, I told T, but I also forgot to tell Jenn and Ryan that he already knew haha
Our first stop of the day was Fieldwork Brewing Co. in San Mateo. It’s a cool craft brewery spot in San Mateo. It’s predominantly outdoors with picnic tables, umbrellas and heating lamps, bocce ball courts, and just ample amount of space for fun. The one thing I do not like about that area though is parking. Luckily, we were able to snag a spot across the street. Jenn and Ryan got to Fieldworks before us and grabbed a spot by the bocce courts, which was perfect! We all ordered flights and chatted and caught up with each other since it’s been a while since we last saw them.
After finishing our flights, we made our way to downtown San Mateo to Wursthall to grab more beer and some food. Wursthall is a restaurant and Bierhaus that has a German and Austrian inspired menu and a ton of beers on tap! Everything we ordered was super tasty!
After late lunch/early dinner, we walked over to Ryptic Escape room, which was a couple of blocks away for the Escape Room challenge we decided to do since T has never done one. The room we did was called “Escape the Aliens” where you try to find out what happened to this well known researcher who is well known in the field of extraterrestrial. The four of us were put in a group with 6 other people. Let’s just say, we didn’t escape. The group we were with took over a lot of the clues and did a shit job with communicating with us, which was super frustrating. Next time I feel like I would only do an escape room if I knew everyone in the room with me.
